Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles W. Herbster had a campaign stop at the Pizza Ranch at 84th and Center on Monday, December 6, 2021. Around 50-100 filled the restaurant’s party room as Herbster gave a stump speech and did some Q&A with the guests. He talked briefly about his Christian faith, having become a Christian during a time of crisis in 1982. His main talking points included banning Critical Race Theory, school choice, and property tax cuts, as well as talk about securing the border.
One constituent commented that Donald Trump, who has endorsed Herbster, called for a primary candidate to challenge Congressman Don Bacon, who recently voted for Joe Biden’s infrastructure plan. Herbster said Bacon was “a friend of mine” and declined to criticize him for the vote, though he did say, “I would have voted differently.”
At the end of the event, Herbster signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge at the end, which read, “I will oppose and veto any and all efforts to increase taxes.”
