Hal Daub optimistic on Redistricting and 2022 Elections

Former Omaha Mayor Hal Daub spoke to the River City Republicans at the Garden Café on Monday about redistricting and his predictions for the 2022 election. Daub been consulting with a few state senators, including Lou Ann Linehan, on the plan, with a focus to withstand potential court challenges from groups such as Obama’s “Organizing for America.” One particular strategy is creating a trail of paperwork showing a good faith effort to work with more liberal state senators and get their support for the plan, which included 9 of 17 on the committee.

As such, Daub is optimistic about Republicans’ change of gains in the 2022 midterm elections. He personally predicted that Republicans would gain 42 seats in the House and 3 Senate seats nationally, as well as gaining 3-5 seats in the Nebraska state legislature for a filibuster-proof “supermajority” (which is nominally nonpartisan but obviously not so in practice).
