Protestors gather outside Don Bacon’s office in Omaha, primary challenge expected

Around 30 protestors gathered outside Don Bacon’s campaign headquarters in Omaha Thursday morning to protest his refusal to support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House. Some brought signs that said “We the people, not you Don RINO” and “Don Bacon do your job!”

The gathering was a last-minute effort by the Nebraska Freedom Coalition and promoted by conservatives influencers on Twitter/X. Many in the crowd voices their discontent with Nebraska’s second district congressman. “Omaha isn’t purple anymore, it’s blue,” one man said. “He’s just rolling along to get re-elected. He doesn’t represent anyone anymore.”

While the crowd was gathered, word got out that Jim Jordan would not be holding a third vote in the race for Speaker. One woman said, “Well this was a waste — Don won,” before leaving the event.

One other man said, “He’s not going to win next November. You’d better get another candidate.” This apparently is in the works — I have it on good authority that a handful of candidates are now being vetted for a primary challenge in the 2024 election.
