However\, as the guest presenter this week\, he will discuss issues connected to an important job for which he did not get paid. \nFor about 20 years\, Gary has devoted himself to two major national foreign policy-related organizations. These organizations include B’nai B’rith International\, the oldest Jewish service organization in America. The organization focuses on Jewish continuity\, supporting Israel helping seniors\, and assisting Israel in its disaster relief program. \nGary serves on their international executive board in Washington and is also the president of their local affiliate\, the Henry Monsky Lodge\, named after the Omaha businessman who helped Father Flanagan launch Boys Town. \nThe American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is the other organization to which Gary dedicates his time. He serves as Nebraska Chair for AIPAC and is a member of their National Council. In that capacity\, he travels quarterly to Washington\, DC to lobby our Nebraska congressman and senators about legislative ways to strengthen the American-Israel relationship\, targeting the development of military hardware\, cybersecurity\, and innovations in technology\, medicine\, and water resource development\, among many other areas. \nThe Ohio University graduate earned a degree in History and also holds a Master’s degree in Health Services Management from Clarkson College. \nHe has been married to the former Karen Sokolof for almost 48 years: they have three adult children and five grandchildren. \nFinally\, he would like you to know he is indebted to the American Red Cross\, which awarded him water safety credentials when he was a teen\, enabling him to earn his way through college as a lifeguard\, swim instructor\, and facility director. \nHis way of paying them back has been to become their “Hero For Babies.” He has a rare blood type (O negative) that contains an anti-virus that permits him to donate to premature babies\, which is why the Red Cross calls him as soon as he is eligible to donate again-three to four times a year. Thus far over a 40-year period\, he has donated 20 + gallons of blood.
